Our Fees

Please note, we do not undertake Legal Aid work.

We offer a fixed fee initial appointment of £150 including VAT which is payable on the day of the appointment.

At your first appointment, we will ask you for a payment on account in order to carry out further work on your behalf. We will send you interim accounts in order that costs are kept at a manageable level. Accounts are payable within 14 days of delivery.

Melanie Lazarus’s hourly rate is £200 per hour (exclusive of VAT).

Prior to proceeding with any Fixed Fee Divorce, initial instructions will be taken at the first appointment for which a separate fixed fee of £150.00 inclusive of VAT is payable. The fixed fee for the divorce is to be paid on account prior to us starting proceedings on your behalf.

We accept debit and credit card payments together with cash and payments made through the bank.

It is very difficult to predict your future legal costs as much will depend on whether you and your wife/husband/ex-partner negotiate and reach an early settlement or whether a Court Application is filed to resolve the issue.

If an Application for a Financial Order proceeds to a Final Contested Hearing, your costs could be in excess of £20,000 plus VAT and disbursements. Therefore, it is in both parties’ interest to negotiate from the outset in the hope that an early settlement can be achieved.

In relation to a Child Arrangements Order proceeding to a Final Contested Hearing, your costs could be in excess of £10,000 plus VAT and disbursements. Therefore, it is in both parties’ interest to negotiate from the outset in the hope that an early settlement can be achieved.
